INTRODUCTION
Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Limited, a subsidiary of Japan’s Hino Motors, Ltd., was established in 1962 as the first overseas sales distributor for Hino trucks, buses and diesel engines for the automotive industry throughout Thailand. With over 50 years of experience, the company also provides periodical maintenance, parts replacement, warranty and contracts as well as after-sales services.
PROBLEM
Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Limited used to own laser printers which often displayed inflexible printing capabilities in terms of sizes, quantities as well as functionalities. Being the exclusive distributor for Hino’s vehicles in the country, heavy printing is often required across the different departments in terms of generating reports and forms. Having to deal with approximately 10,000 print-outs a month, the company needed to search for a printing alternative which would provide printing cost efficiencies in order to thrive in the dynamic automotive business environment.
When Praepilai joined Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Limited about 20 years ago, the printing challenges she was met with from the different business aspects had prompted her to explore other printing alternatives.
SOLUTION
During her search, she had contemplated all-in-one printers. However, she finally chose the smart and reliable P8000 Enclosed Cabinet line printer for its capability of supporting the various character sets, styles and fonts as well as the paper types the needed. Currently, Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Limited owns 6 units of P8C15 Enclosed Cabinet line matrix printers. Operating on AS400 and Windows, the printers are connected by TCP/IP port with a host system involving I series and Windows. Located across the different departments within Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Limited, the printers are currently used to generate all forms and reports required by their accounts, administration, human resource departments as well as sales and servicing teams.
“By significantly slicing the time it takes to print out our order sheets we effectively regain some 80 days more a year of extra productivity and that’s a sweet solution.”
Whether you’re an artisan bread maker or large-scale commercial bakery you need robust, reliable printers capable of producing documents like invoices, delivery notes, and barcode labels in conditions that are quite often floury and humid. Given the relatively short shelf-life of many freshly baked products, speed of printing is also another important consideration to ensure goods are despatched quickly into the supply chain.
When Emma Davies, of Emma’s Country Cakes visited a supplier’s site and saw the speed of its industrial printer she soon realised that she needed to upgrade her existing machine to cope with her fast expanding enterprise.
SPEED AND DURABILITY IMPORTANT CRITERIA
Printing out all of Emma’s Country Cakes daily order sheets on an old Epson LQ300 dot matrix printer was taking office staff three hours. It was a random visit to a supplier’s site that provided Emma with the impetus she needed to convince her to replace the old device. She contemplated laser and other impact print devices in her search but finally chose the reliable, fast performance of the TallyGenicom C6815 line printer, capable of producing 1500 lines per minute.
It now takes just 15-20 minutes to produce the daily order sheets, a saving of over 150 minutes a day in processing time. The printer is located in the offices at Emma’s Country Cakes where its fully enclosed sound reduction cabinet means noise intrusion is minimised. It is used primarily for generating standard multi-part invoicing/order sheets but could also produce barcode labels and other tractor-feed reports, if required.

Being able to respond quickly and efficiently to market demand depends on reliable and fast back office devices such as industrial printers. These are used in production areas for custom labelling and in accounting departments for SAP reporting.
BEST FOR CONTINUOUS PRINTING
Disano first started using Printronix line matrix devices back in the 1990s because they were compatible with its existing software management.
The company values the speed and reliability of Printronix printers and has continued to upgrade with the same technology ever since.
Disano is very satisfied with the benefits of line matrix printers and they claim they will continue using this ‘legacy’ technology for the foreseeable future: “Printronix printers are ideal, they offer the best performance, and are the most cost effective, when compared with others”.
Disano has a variety of Printronix printers, including P5210, P7215 and P8215, which print easy-to-read tabs in B3 size and labels on pre-scaled continuous forms. The company prints on different continuous forms such as 132 x 66mm, 198 x 66 mm, and 14” x 12” multi-point labels.

“I recommended the use of Printronix printers when I joined the company in 1996. I had previously worked at the Leclerc group, a major French retail chain, which used their equipment. I therefore knew Printronix for large-volume printing and also for the quality of their solution.”
The business challenges associated with distribution require the technologies within the logistics chain to be mastered perfectly. Of these, the choice of printing solutions plays a key role. Regardless of whether issuing delivery notes or producing invoices, volumes can in fact become so large that they constitute a considerable proportion of a company’s operating costs. This is the conclusion drawn by the Cercle Vert group, which decided to integrate Printronix line matrix printers into the heart of its IT system.
More than 2.5 million sheets printed per year for 450,000 orders delivered
Founded in 1985, the Cercle Vert group specialises in the distribution of food and non-food products in the region around Paris for professionals in institutional catering (healthcare, public authorities, schools and businesses) and commercial catering such as restaurants. The company employs 250 people and has over 8,000 customers. With 14,000 items in stock, the Cercle Vert group performs almost 450,000 deliveries each year with a fleet of 80 trucks.
The company has a major need for printed documents. The Cercle Vert group issues almost 8,000 documents a day. Delivery notes, invoices, billing statements, account statements, and commercial reports related to every order require paper-based documents to be produced quickly and are essential for managing the company’s logistics chain and business chain.
“We face major logistical hurdles. The challenge is to deliver to our customers quickly as they must be supplied on time in order for them to run their business well. We perform more than 1,000 deliveries every day, which is a considerable volume given that each order consists of multiple items. We produce 8,000 printed documents every day in our logistics centre. Each pallet needs to be labelled and there needs to be a corresponding delivery note. These documents are produced using multi-copy forms. At the same time, invoices are issued and the documents are attached to the goods,” explains Patrick Mendez, IT Manager at the Cercle Vert group.
Delivering printing solutions adapted to the business needs of logistics
Cercle Vert was looking for a printing technology that met the business requirements of logistics. The company has been using Printronix printers based on line matrix printing technology since 1997. 8 printers are deployed in the group’s warehouses and head office.
“I recommended the use of Printronix printers when I joined the company in 1996. I had previously worked at the Leclerc group, a major French retail chain, which used their equipment. I therefore knew Printronix for large-volume printing and also for the quality of their solution,” Patrick Mendez emphasises.
"Since the Printronix printers have been installed, the operators have been able to print far more pages faster and at much better quality."
Printronix printers make fast work of processing
When your vision is to be the first choice supply chain provider, you need efficient technology and processes to enable you to keep responding effectively to customers’ changing needs.

– Ragnar Dietmann, in charge of installing the printers at Realisator AG at ITRIS
THE PROBLEM
As printing demands increased, Realisator AG began looking for equipment that would seamlessly integrate with the existing network. The new printers would replace existing serial matrix printers and would need to be highly reliable, fast and accurate. Realisator AG came to Printronix through Swiss system integrator and print specialist, ITRIS Trading AG.
OUR SOLUTION
Based on the recommendation of ITRIS Trading AG, Realisator AG decided to purchase six high-definition line matrix printers from Printronix. ITRIS installed the original six printers. Two years later, Realisator ordered additional P7000HD high-resolution line matrix printers due to the amazing results.
THE RESULTS
The print center at Dietikon prints more than 20,000 pages per week using Printronix line matrix in high-definition quality. Each Printronix printer processes approximately 2,000 4x NCR forms per week. Once printed, forms are separated, placed in envelopes and franked via a packing line.

Chang Bing Show Chwan Memorial Hospital is Taiwan’s first comprehensive cancer hospital. The hospital specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, which is Taiwan’s biggest life threatening disease. Cancer has remained the No. 1 cause of death in Taiwan for many years. It accounted for 27.7% of all deaths in 2016. With a significant influx of patients visiting on an annual basis, publicly accessible information on medicines is critical to ensure a patient’s safety. Misuse of prescribed medicine could result in severe side effects and ineffective treatments.
PROBLEM
On a monthly basis, Chang Bing Show Chwan Memorial Hospital produces an estimated 160,000 print-outs of medicine bags. In order to handle such high printing volume, the hospital is looking for a suitable substitute printing solution designed with much bigger printing capacity and faster printing speed as opposed to their serial dot matrix printers. During the search process, Chang Bing Show Chwan Hospital had considered both inkjet and laser printers. However, they chose Printronix line matrix printers as their printing solution provider in 2009.
SOLUTION
Of current, Chang Bing Show Chwan Memorial Hospital owns 2 line matrix printers. They are the P8PH6 Printronix Open Pedestal printer which produces a printing speed of 600 lines per minute as well as a P7000 series. They currently use a Windows hosting system and are connected via parallel port, operating on Windows XP and Windows 7 while their emulations used are Epson FX.
“We know these line matrix printers are fast and can more than keep up with the volume of documentation we’re producing. But more than that, we know they’re reliable and strong, so we have little to worry about in terms of breakdowns."
Selgros has 21 cash & carry stores across Romania, four of which are in the capital city, Bucharest. Each hypermarket offers more than 24,000 food items and a further 17,000 non-food products.
Every day, thousands of customers visit the stores so speed and reliability of printers to process documents like invoices and credit notes is seen as vital. In such demanding environments, Selgros is quick to realise the benefits of its Printronix line matrix industrial printers: they’re reliable, fast and robust.
A growing business relies on proven technology
Selgros Cash & Carry has been owned since 2008 by TransGourmet Holding, a fully owned subsidiary of Coop Switzerland. Prior to that, it was run as a joint venture between Rewe Group and Otto Group since 1989. It has stores in Germany, Poland and Russia and entered the Romanian market in 2001 by opening its first hypermarket in Brasov, where it is still headquartered. Through investment of more than 15 million euros, it has since opened a further 20 stores throughout the country.
The Romanian Selgros operation employs some 5000 people and supplies caterers, traders and other SMEs. It prides itself on the freshness of its food items and the quality and competitiveness of all its product lines. It places competence at the heart of everything it does and technology plays a key role in improving its capabilities and efficiency, in both customer experience and business processing.
Challenging environments
Cash and carry stores, like many warehouses, can be pretty demanding environments, both in terms of extremes of temperatures and movement of stock so any technology used has to be resilient in such conditions.
Selgros has used TallyGenicom line matrix devices for several years and when it comes to replacing them, it does evaluate the benefits and costs of other print technology like laser, inkjet and thermal. But it keeps coming back to line matrix as it feels the technology still offers the best solution in terms of cost-effectiveness, reliability, speed and durability.
