Printronix, Inc. is a leading developer, manufacturer and provider of industrial and back-office enterprise printing solutions for office/industrial marketplace and distribution supply chain. Incorporated in Delaware, Printronix began operations in 1974. On June 26, 1979, Printronix initiated public trading at $5.67 (adjusted for splits). Revenue for fiscal year 2007 was $128.4 million, up from $127.8 million for last year even though the prior year period consisted of 53 weeks. Net income was $2.9 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, compared with a net loss of $8.0 million, or $1.28 per diluted share, for the prior fiscal year. In January 2008 Printronix announced the completion of its acquisition by Pioneer Holding Corp., an entity controlled by Vector Capital, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Printronix common stock ceased trading on the NASDAQ Global Market prior to the open of the market on January 8, 2008.
Printronix is headed by Robert A. Kleist. Mr. Kleist founded Printronix in 1974 and serves as its president, chief executive officer and a director. His previous experience included co-founding Pertec Computer Corp. and serving in engineering and management assignments at Ampex, Link Aviation and Magnavox. Kleist holds 17 patents for peripheral and control systems, and he received a BSEE degree from Kansas University and an MSEE degree from Stanford University. He has served on the Seagate Technology board of directors, the Stanford Engineering Advisory Committee, and U.C. Irvine Engineering and Information and Computer Science Advisory Committees.
